The National Institute of Statistics conducts the "Survey on the prices of capital goods for the calculation of international purchasing power parities (PPP)", thus adhering to the European Comparisons Program (ECP) scheduled by Eurostat (Regulations No. 1445/2007 and No. 193/2011), which involves 36 European countries; the information collected is used to elaborate international purchasing power parity indices. The indices are also used to express National Accounts aggregates (e.g. GDP) in comparable volumes between the countries. In agreement with the EU countries, a basket of homogeneous products is defined, and therefore highly comparable internationally, on which the price survey is conducted in the national territory. The survey is included in the National Statistical Program (IST-02818).
