The monthly survey on industrial turnover and new orders is a monthly survey provided by the Statistic National Program and it is aimed at producing short-term indicator useful to measure the change over time of the amount of sales of enterprises whose main economic activities are mining and quarrying and manufacturing. Since January 2021 (month of reference of data), the collection and dissemination of industrial new orders data have been discontinued as a consequence of a rationalization of the statistical production and for reducing the burden on businesses.
The survey is based on a purposive sample of enterprises drawn from the universe of active enterprises of the Italian Business Register, involving - for nearly all of the sectors - enterprises with 20 employees and over. For sectors characterized by the presence of few companies (less than 20 firms), the target universe is represented by all the companies without any restriction on the number of employees. The selection of the enterprises is performed at 3-digit level of the economic activity classification Ateco 2007 (the Italian version of NACE rev. 2), using a cut-off criterion based on the selection of the enterprises (sorted in descending order) whose cumulative turnover represents at least 70% of the total turnover of the sector.
Data dissemination follows a revision policy described in the section the Revision Policy documents, available at http://siqual.istat.it/SIQual/lang.do?language=UK
