The sample survey on births was conducted by interviewing a sample of 50,000 mothers enrolled in the Register of births by birth (about 10% of the universe). The interview was conducted with the CATI technique. Were administered two questionnaires, a short one, open to the entire sample, to collect the main socio-demographic variables, a long one, turned to one third of the sample, with the aim to study the impact of motherhood on the professional status of mother in detail and the use of formal and informal networks of care as well.
