The "Family and social subjects" survey, inserted in the system of "Multipurpose Surveys on families", took place for the first time in 1998. This survey aims to deepen the study of the organization of the family as a cell of contemporary society, through the analysis of its internal structure and the role of the individuals that compose it. They are called "social subjects", because considered in the entirety of their living conditions and their characteristics, no longer only according to the economic and productive role they play as employed, unemployed, retired or housewives within the labor market, or as students within the school system, but as men, women, children and elderly, each with their own potential, their own specificities and needs.
