[C] - Production index - construction
Description The monthly index of production in construction (IPC) is one of the economic indicators required by Regulation (EU) 2019/2152, to monitor and evaluate the evolution of the construction sector. The index of production in construction (IPC) is compiled for units classified in Section F 'Construction', according to ATECO 2007. The IPC is compiled on a monthly basis. An indirect method is used to calculate the IPC in order to overcome difficulties in directly assessing the productivity of building enterprises. As recommended by the EBS methodological manual for compiling the monthly index of production in construction – 2021 edition, the estimate of the construction output uses hours worked as the main productivity input. Data on hours worked are gathered through the Survey on Building Workers' Welfare Funds.
