The 9th Industry and Services Census and Nonprofit Institutions Census concludes the 2010-2011 census process, which focuses on technological innovations and an extensive use of administrative data.
The Census, having as reference date the 31st of December 2011, consists of 3 different surveys:
• Sample survey on enterprises;
• Survey on the Nonprofit Institutions;
• Survey on the Public Institutions.
In order to conduct several thematic analysis, the Italian National Institute of Statistics carried out three specific surveys by designing a representative sample of enterprises which received a questionnaire based on innovative contents, as well as by entirely surveying Nonprofit Institutions and Public Institutions and focusing on thematic issues relevant for the field of observation, accordingly.
In line with the strategy adopted in the 6th Agricultural Census (2010) and in the 15th Population and housing census (2011), each of them supported by the massive use of administrative archives, the 9th Industry and Services Census and Nonprofit Institutions Census has been conducted through the use of pre-census lists realized by integrating several administrative sources.
